Abstract

The Determinant Factors of Teacher’s Absence

The kinds of absenteeism like absent, late attendance, return home early, or leave school when teaching time are still happened in the school. Based on such conditions, the purpose of this study is to measure the influence of academic culture, incentive, and commitment to the teacher absence.
The study was survey research whith population was 1.484 teachers who teach at Junior Secondary School in Bantul Regency. Sample were chosen using proportional random sampling technique based on school accreditation, and used the degree of error of 5%; so got 283 teachers. The collecting data used rating scale questioner that has product moment corelation and part whole corelation as empiric validity test. The research also used Alpha Cronbach Formula as reliability test. Data analysis techniques was path analysis.
The results show that (1) academic culture has positive and significant impact toward teacher commitment, (2) incentive do not has impact toward teacher commitment, (3) incentive has positive and significant impact toward teacher absence, (4) academic culture has significant negative impact toward teacher absence, and (6) commitment has significant negative impact toward teacher absence. So, teacher’s absence is more on cultural problem; and it recomend to build working mechanism which could change teacher’s absence behavior and attitude
